Partners Council Launches Second FitNation Provincial Leader Training Forum

In partnership with the BC Healthy Living Alliance and the BC Ministry of Health, the Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) is pleased to announce that it will be delivering a second FitNation Leader Training Forum, which is set to take place in Vancouver, B.C. from April 24-26, 2017.

Thanks to the BC Physical Activity Strategy Action Plan, the Partners Council is able to deliver two training forums for the next two years (fall and spring). A total of 66 leaders have been trained to deliver the FitNation program since its launch in 2014.

FitNation incorporates over 100 dynamic exercises that are presented in a fun, family friendly workout format. Developed in partnership with the Province of BC and Nike N7, FitNation was specifically designed to increase physical activity in Indigenous communities and Friendship Centres throughout BC. The program is for all ages, fitness levels, scalable to any size group, and requires no specialized facilities or equipment.

Participation is available through an application process. Those selected to receive the training are required to deliver an 8-week FitNation program within their community organization, Friendship Centre, or school. Those selected will have all travel costs and expenses for attending covered by the Partners Council.
